After numerous attempts at applying for ENOVA funding, Bergen finally got a positive response to their application for 50 MNOK to support an onshore power supply for cruise ships. This is a massive step forward as Bergen is one of the busiest cruise destinations in Norway.
The system will be installed by 2020 and will significantly increase the air quality in the city, especially on warm summer days with little or no wind.
The project will also be the first for the newly established joint venture company established by the Port of Bergen. BKK (power company) and the City Council.

As a newly elected member of the board at the Port of Bergen I am personally looking forward to be a part of this and other projects related to reducing the emissions from maritime activities, but at the same time assuring that Bergen maintain its role as a key port along the west coast of Norway.
